The AVPA Communities of Practice (CoP) are collaborative groups designed for alumni of our specialized fellowships. It fosters peer-to-peer learning, collaborative deal-sharing, and policy influence to address the continent’s SDG financing gap.
Our Mission
To create a dynamic ecosystem where social investors and practitioners engage in meaningful dialogue, share best practices, and mobilize the Continuum of Capital for sustainable development across Africa.
The African Venture Philanthropy Alliance is a unique Pan-African network of social investors collaborating to increase the flow capital into African social investments and ensure its effective deployment for maximum social impact. AVPA is aiming to address the SDG financing gap on the continent by crowding-in more capital into social investments and in particular, domestic private capital. We work with social investors deploying across the continuum of capital – grants, debt and equity – into social investments on the continent. These include foundations, corporates, family offices, individual philanthropists, angel investors, impact fund managers, PE & VC funds, bilateral and multilateral donors, governments, DFI’s and corporates. These financial capital providers are about 80% of our network and the remaining 20% being non-financial service providers e.g. Academia, advisory firms etc Our network seeks to achieve greater social impact through collaboration, coinvesting, exchange of information, sharing of pipeline and networks, and the acquisition of skills and knowledge especially in innovative finance approaches/models and impact investing broadly.
AVPA has its headquarters in Nairobi, with regional offices in Johannesburg and Lagos. AVPA is aligned with thriving sister networks in Europe (Impact Europe ; Formerly EVPA), Latin America (Latimpacto) and Asia (AVPN), and the newly launched Arab Impact Network thus forming a dynamic global force for social impact.

Offering exclusive access to a repository of publications and best practices, and market insights in the AVPA Knowledge Sharing Hub.
