CEI Africa Case Study

The goal of the Fund is to scale green mini-grids and other off-grid solutions, with a particular focus on productive use of energy and women beneficiaries. It is a one-stop shop for mini-grid developers and other off-grid energy companies, offering a variety of financing instruments.

The Clean Energy & Energy Inclusion Fund for Africa (CEI Africa) is a blended-finance facility that accelerates access to energy in Sub-Saharan Africa by leveraging donor capital across two windows:- The Smart Outcomes Window (output & outcomes based grants, forgivable loans plus technical assistance (TA)); and- The Crowdlending Window (senior/junior debt, mezzanine, and equity co-invested alongside European crowd lenders) – complemented by technical assistance.
